Tentative time is 9:15 AM in the Luguna Vista room. Proxies will go out to all Business members in April. Safety Day 2012

WBAA Safety Day will be held May 8^th, 2012 in Wisconsin Dells at the Wisconsin Aviation Conference. We are working with the Wisconsin Airport Management Association (WAMA), who is the lead group for setting up the annual Wisconsin Aviation Conference. Bryan Burns, President of Air Charter Safety Foundation, will be presenting on SMS for flight departments. Additionally, Garrett Kaminskis from North American Safety Systems will present Hangar Safety – Loss Control. The other session will be of interest to you along with presentations from the Transportation Secretary and the Director of the Bureau of Aeronautics. I will update when more information is available.

Lakeshore Aviation is proud to host AOPA's Air Safety Institute's Spring Safety Seminar, May 16^th, 2012 at the Manitowoc County Airport.  This spring's seminar is entitled "Wanted: Alive!" and will cover topics to help improve pilot safety.  All levels of pilots are welcome. Doors open at 6pm with a Burger and Brat cookout with proceeds benefiting Manitowoc's Thunder on the Lakeshore Airshow (June 2 & 3).  The seminar begins at 7pm; attendees will receive FAA Wings credit. There will be door prizes, including free admission passes for the Airshow. Fuel discounts available from Lakeshore Aviation for those who fly in for the seminar. FAA Reauthorization

In February, Congress passed and the President signed the FAA Reauthorization, known as “FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012,” after four years of extensions. The Reauthorization has monumental affects on airports and operators in areas, such as Airport Improvement Program, Safety Management Systems, NextGen Implementation, and Aircraft Depreciation. Here in Wisconsin the Bureau of Aeronautics (BOA) estimates they will lose about four million per year in AIP Funding. The BOA has raised the state’s share for grants from 2.5% to 5%, which would leave 5% to airports. The scope of topics that are influenced by this Act can be viewed at the U.S. Government Printing Office website. Be aware how the new laws apply to your operations.

BARR

The Block Aircraft Registration Request program is being restored to a form of its old self. Aircraft owners and operators no longer have to show a valid security concern to opt out of having their information published on the internet. On December 16, 2011, the FAA issued Federal Register notice to provide an update on the transitional status of the BARR program.

WBAA Golf Open 2012

The golf outing will be held on June 11^th, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Western Lakes Golf Club in Pewaukee, WI. Kristi Bleickardt from United States Customs and Border Protection Agency has agreed to share the latest updates and take questions concerning Customs and Immigration during the dinner hour.  Proceeds from this year’s outing will support the Veterans Airlift Wing, a Fox Valley aviation student’s Phenom 100 SIC Type, and a high school student scholarship, along with WBAA.  I would like to thank the sponsors who have already made a commitment to the golf outing’s success.
